Not-so minor spoilers included Last Friday, with the aid of a co-worker who owns the DVD and by "borrowing" the computer of another co-worker with a DVD-ROM drive, I downloaded and watched the "Mystery" trailer. I've got two words here: "Good job!" This second trailer is a spoiler-fest, so if you're maintaining your virginity, turn back now. Still with me? Good. As the theme for "Breathing" was a 40-second foreshadowing of Anakin's eventual turn to the Dark Side, "Mystery's" theme is centered on a plot to kill Padmé Naberrie. The former Queen of the Naboo is now a Senator and, it would seem, the target for several assassination attempts. As circumstances would have it, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker are given the assignment of protecting the Senator from further attacks. The visuals in this trailer are quite nice - in addition to about four changes of wardrobe for Padmé, we're also treated to a couple of chase scenes, Obi-Wan in a bar fight, Anakin getting toasted by Force-lightning and much more. So much more, in fact, that this thing is simply one long spoiler. While there isn't much hinting towards the eventual Anakin-Padmé hook up, it's obvious here that their interaction will lead to a relationship. Also, there's some allusion to Anakin's nature, as he tells Padmé that he will find her assailant. The comment doesn't sit well with Obi-Wan, who gives a very interesting look at his Padawan. I really liked this trailer, and since I'm a self-avowed spoiler glut, I'm happy to see the images that flesh out what I've been reading online the last few months. So, if you made it this far, welcome to the spoilerfest! The only beef I had with the trailer was the way in which it was presented. I don't own a Mac, but I can understand the frustration many Mac owners felt when the trailer wasn't initally offered for those viewing the DVD on a Mac. Rather silly considering the trailer was presented using Apple technology! Also, I was miffed by the inability to save the trailer to my hard drive. Thanks to the proliferation of mirror sites, I have it now, but LucasFilm has got to understand by now that people will find a way around such restrictions. So why have them in the first place? Bizarre. Regardless, if you have the means to view the DVD-only web content, or can find it on the web, I highly recommend doing so. (Jody Reeves is currently trying to unravel the mystery of why she's even remotely thinking of asking for an Xbox for Christmas. She already has her tickets to see "Harry Potter" and the third Episode II trailer on Saturday.)
