Custom Missions by Robert Cashman, Jim Fisher, and Jim Hurst

Those who have experienced LucasArts Entertainment's X-Wing CD have had some opportunity behind the stick of an X-wing, but haven't had the chance to get into scenarios from the "Rogue Squadron" comics and novels.

     Up until this issue, anyway.

We now present to you three custom created missions for X-Wing, based on the X-Wing stories from Mike Stackpole.

Mission Overviews

&nbspMissions 1 through 3 of Tour of Duty One are replaced. Here is a brief overview of each mission:

Dogfight Over Tatooine - Author: Jim Fisher
&nbspThis mission recreates the exciting dogfight over Tatooine from X-Wing: Rogue Squadron: Battleground Tatooine.

Hyperspace Practice - Author: Rob Cashman
&nbspThis mission recreates the encounter with the Interdictor-class cruiser Black Asp from X-Wing: Rogue Squadron.

Debacle at Blackmoon - Author: Jim Hurst
&nbspThis mission recreates the first mission to Borleias from X-Wing: Rogue Squadron.

Installation Instructions

    &nbspFor X-Wing CD Users:

&nbspCreate a directory on your hard drive called "XCD." Unzip the contents of XWMISS.ZIP into this directory. You'll then want to load the XCD TSR by Matt Hart, which is included in this archive, so that you may play custom missions with the CD. To do the above simply open up the MS DOS Prompt and type the following commands:

cd\
md xcd
cd\echo6
pkunzip xwmiss.zip c:\xcd
cd\xcd
xcdr c:\xcd\echo.xcd
Load X-Wing, without leaving this instance of the DOS prompt, doing so will remove the TSR program from memory, and play Tour of Duty 1, missions 1 to 3.

    &nbspX-Wing Disk users:

&nbspGo to your c:\xwing\mission directory and back up all missions. The easisest way to do this is:

copy *.xwi *.xw_
copy *.brf *.br_

    &nbspThen unzip the XWMISS.ZIP file into your c:\xwing\mission directory. You'll want to overwrite defect.xwi and defect.brf with tatoo.xwi and tatoo.brf, respectively. Overwrite id-recon.xwi and id-recon.brf with xw-rs_hp.xwi and xw-rs_hp.brf, respectively. Overwrite wxrgard1.xwi and wxrgard1.brf with blakmoon.xwi and blakmoon.brf, respectively.

&nbspOnce you're finished with the missions you can restore your original missions by:

copy *.xw_ *.xwi
copy *.br_ *.brf

(Rob "Kyp" Cashman, Jim "Freebird" Fisher, and Jim "4-Speed" Hurst are all regulars of Compuserve's FSCOMBAT format, where they can be found discussing X-Wing)
