Before you activate your hyper-drive motivator and pop into ECHO STATION's Galactic Core, there are a couple of things you can do to make your ECHO viewing pleasure the best it can be.
1) Set your screen resolution for 800 x 600 (640x480 is acceptable). MINIMUM color configuration is 256 colors.
2) For the best viewing experience, you should read ECHO with either the Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator browsers. Kind-hearted souls that we are, we've included direct links to sites you can obtain these browsers, if you don't already have them.
3) Configure your browser to turn OFF the Toolbar (Done under the VIEW pull down menu) This maximizes your screen area for viewing.
4) Turn OFF any of your computer's automatic programs that use sound files. ECHO STATION uses .wav files and there could be a conflict.
5) This issue is broken up into two parts. The "Core" issue, which you are reading now, and a Tier. This was done to make downloading easier (and quicker) for our readers. Tiered levels meant smaller files to download... MORE files, yes, but those with slower modems or without much time online can retrieve the core first and pick up the other articles in the tier later, at their convenience. The tier ISN'T full of throw-away, or extra, stories. It simply contains MORE of the great articles, interviews and diversions you've come to expect from ECHO STATION. The tier is available for download from the same location as you obtained this core. To install the tier simply unzip it into the directory in which the core is located and overwrite any and all files that you are prompted to. (Those who have already installed the tier can ignore the above.)
And that's about it. Now, you don't HAVE to perform any of the preceeding suggestions to enjoy ECHO STATION - but otherwise the staff can't guarantee that the look and performance of ECHO will match the quality standards we've set to bring you the best looking Emag possible.
